A doorway between two rooms is reduced to a 3-inch wide opening. The surfaces on either side of the opening simultaneously “breath,” opening and closing the gap. The front room is lit by natural light and the back by incandescent bulbs. The opening appears like a yellow line from one side, and a blue line from the other.

A white rectangular structure stands squarely, two feet from a doorway. Its volume is the same as the doorway. The sides of the structure swell and flatten five times per minute.
