Autism Studio

Autism Studio

Autism Studio is a research and education component of The Future of Body research cluster in the Program in Art, Culture, and Technology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The studio uses artistic strategies to design spaces and tools for living through direct involvement of and in collaboration with autistic individuals. It is the mission of Autism Studio to offer new design solutions around the experience of a few autistic individuals and, at the same time, provoke radical new directions in the design of mainstream spaces and the understanding of experience.

Autism Studio is still young and in the process of defining its future. The studio undertakes projects in the form of exhibitions, performance series, lectures, panel discussions, publishing, conferences, and other forms of public presentation designed to focus attention on the interdependent themes of art, experience, and autism.

Research fellow and artist, Wendy Jacob, founded Autism Studio in the fall of 2008.
